Teosinte is an ancient wild grass considered the ancestor of modern maize. Known for its tall, elegant stalks and small seed-bearing ears, it is valued for its historical significance and ability to hybridize with modern corn. Teosinte thrives in warm conditions and well-drained soil.
Sow seeds directly outdoors after the last frost, spacing them 20–30 cm apart. Teosinte prefers warm weather, so plant in a sunny, sheltered spot. Ensure regular watering, especially during dry spells, and fertilize with a balanced feed for optimal growth. Harvest when the small ears are mature, or let them fully dry on the stalks for seed collection.
